Reaching for the Summit

“The summit is what drives us, but the climb itself is what matters.” -Conrad Anker
Dear Dennison Community,
It was so great to have the students in school for five days this week!
SPELLING BEE
Congratulations to our Dennison Spelling Bee participants. We had a wonderful evening and two spellers worked their way to the top. Congratulations to Catherine Hsu, 2nd place, and Martin Katai, 1st place, who will represent our school at an area competition next Thursday, February 2, at Columbine High School.
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
Next month, parent teacher conferences will be held on Wednesday, February 15 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, February 16 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. As was in the fall, Thursday is a MODIFIED CONTACT DAY and there is no regular school for students, only conferences. For these conferences, if your teacher would like you and your child to attend a conference, he or she will reach out to you via email on the afternoon of Monday, January 30th, with a signup genius link. If you do not receive an email from your child’s teacher, he or she does not feel it is necessary to meet at this time. However, if you would like to request a conference, please reach out directly to your child’s teacher to find a time on either of the dates listed above. Please remember that if you have a conference scheduled for your child and he or she does not show up for the conference, he or she will be marked absent on Thursday, February 16.
VALENTINES DAY PARTIES
Valentine’s Day parties are right around the corner and we need parent volunteers! Parent involvement is what ensures each class has an amazing party. Check your Classroom SignUp Genius (use drop down to find your grade) to volunteer for your child's class as the party lead or party volunteer. If you've already signed up for the Valentine's party, please check in with your teacher for more details.
The DEC PTA has created a Party Planning Guide, if you would like a physical copy, please stop by the front office.
FAMILY SURVEY
Family Survey: The district will send a communication to all Jeffco families on Monday, January 30, when the survey opens. The survey will remain open until Friday, March 3. It is available in multiple languages. This survey is an important way for the school to determine what we are doing well and what areas may need improvement. Please keep an eye out for this survey to be sent by the district next week.
